Meet A. Nonymous, though sometimes I’ll simply call him AN for reading’s sake. He’s incredibly old, though you wouldn’t realise by looking ay him. You could call him mature, I suppose, and most definitely cultured. Yes, name any book and you can bet that A. Nonymous has read it a thousand times over. Travel? AN’s been to every place you could possibly imagine and then some. He accompanied Sherlock Holmes on his many adventures and travelled on the Hogwarts Express. He’s attended shows at the ‘Cirque du Freak’ more times then you could count and served wine at the Montague’s and Capulet’s balls.
He’s the one who holds open the door so you can enter and listen to the room’s conversation. He shows you the way through an unfamiliar house, leading you down corridors and hallways that you are sure to remember later. He’s very quiet and sometimes you might not even realise that he’s there. But you can always count on AN to arrive at the exact moment he is needed and the second his duty is done, off he flits to some equally exciting adventure!
Without A. Nonymous, many of the fantastic stories you may have been told or the heroes and heroines you’ve read about may not have existed. The evil villains would have ruled the world and zombie armies would be devouring the human race. The Hero would be locked away with kryptonite and the damsel in distress would still be ageing away in the highest room of the tallest tower.
But instead, all is right with the world and you should probably thank him for that.
doesn’t bang away too obvious – i like that about this picece – i guess it’s nivcely balanced
Am I being very dim by not understanding this?
I’m not sure who ‘Anonymous’ is supposed to be- is he like a superhero? Maybe you could drop in a clue to make it more obvious to your dimmer readers (i.e. me!)?
It does have some clever literary references in it though.
p.s.
it’s ‘heroes’ and ‘ageing’, and you don’t need an ‘as’ in ‘equally exciting’
Agh! Sorry, I obviously didn’t check this before posting, so cheers for pointing those mistakes out.
‘A.Nonymous’ is supposed to be a reference to either the characters in a story who were never named but still had some sort of impact on the plot or just sort sort of figure who assists the reader thoughout a story, without them knowing.
But in Romeo and Juliet the Montagues never HAD a ball, only the Capulets did.
